License Anomaly
Incoming Rant.
Okay, can someone answer me this question?
I’ve been on the road for over 2 years already on motorcycles. When I was on my motorcycle, nobody questioned my ability to
a) direct the vehicle to a destination on my own
b) turn corners
c) change lanes
d) select the correct gear
People who I’ve driven with since I ‘got my license’ (aka, got my car license, big deal!) talk to me like it’s my first time on the road! Informing me of rules I’ve had to live by to literally save my own life on a regular basis on the motorcycle.
Rules that have been actually trained into you as a biker from the courses you’ve done and the pages and pages you’ve ready about motor-safety and the experience you’ve had on the road? And I’m sorry, but 2 years on a motorcycle in all (and I mean ALL! Aaron, you know what I mean here lol) weather conditions is NOT equal to two years in a sleeper cage 4 wheel bore-mobile.
If I can perform emergency braking in the wet in real-life situations (which I have, many times) and NEVER drop my motorcycle I feel I deserve a little credit when it comes to on-road awareness. Cars have one brake pedal.
Motorcycles have Two. Rear and Front and the application of these brakes, for instance, the ratio of rear to front brake varies greatly on the speed and conditions of the road.
I have never dropped my bike around a corner. Not once. Not because of sand or water or oil or a combination of detergent/oily water. (Oil contains detergents which is why there’s foam on the road in the puddles after the first rains, which most car drivers probably don’t even know.)
Cars suck. I got my license so I can get work, not to become a car-driver.
People who say “ooh, but you have to get used to the width of the car, and the length”. That, realistically takes about a day per vehicle size change. It’s not rocket science.
P.s. None of this rant applies to the one person who hasn’t done this (except maybe a few directions here and there!!!!) and that’s Rose.
Get a motorbike.
End Of Rant.
