Rose and Sam's Excellent Adventure

I sound my barbaric LOL over the rooftops of the world.

Tam Biet Mui Ne, Xin Chao Dalat

We’re listening to Greenday over the speakers at Joe’s Cafe, after eating pancakes with real maple syrup and fresh fruit and enjoying a can of Sprite.
Yes… A sea-side resort town. And we’re leaving! Phew. It’s basically Broome, WA with an enormous amount of fish rotting. I’ll do a proper post about it soon.

The Buddha we visited Wednesday was awesome, and the motorcycle riding around here is a piece of cake next to Phnom Penh!!!! I mean, we’ve got our own lane. There’s the main road, where all the crazy goes on, like trucks and the like, but motorcycles have their own lane on either side which is never encroached upon by motorcars.

I’ll do a full post about the 49 meter reclining Buddha I saw the day before y’day.

There wasn’t much in the way of buses and trucks yesterday actually, and once you learn your place, and once you learn that if a truck is slowly pulling out onto the road, don’t think that beeping your horn as he’s looking at you means he’ll stop. It’s just assumed you’ll go around him as the rule of tonnage applies.

I know this sounds epically dangerous, but when you know how it works, it’s pretty fucking good actually. I think the reason why so many accidents happen here is that some riders ride like life is cheap and motorcycle training doesn’t exist here. Granted, they’re on motorcycles from birth – literally – so I don’t know. All I do know is, riding around here is pretty tame, compared to some of the shit I’ve done back home and in Phnom Penh. PP was crazy, but possible. Here, it’s fine and the motorcycles are well catered for.

I’ve got a lot of photos, and VIDEO to upload. Some final Saigon pics, and some great stuff we’ve seen around the place. I’ve got some great 5-ai pictures as well, and also the first recorded FIVE-AI VIDEO! That’s right, it scores a perfect 5 on the -ai meter.

Our bus is coming fairly soon and we gotta go a couple of klms down the road to get there. 5 hours on a bus again gives me the shits, thinking about it. But I’m accompanied by the Buzzcocks, Sham 69, Cockney Rejects, Dropkick Murpheys, The Exploited and my new favourites, Stiff Little Fingers!

Take it easy kids, see you in Dalat.
