Leaving Hoi An and My Son Visit
Well, our Hoi An visit has come to an end and it’s onto a plane tomorrow morning for Hanoi.
We dropped in and said goodbye to the gorgeous girls who I’ve fallen in love with at Peace Tailor and gave them our contact details. We’re going to email them some photos of their suits in the classroom in action. =)
We got on a Yamaha Sirius this morning and rode the hour-and-a-half ride to My Son and visited the Cham ruins there. It was pretty cool, like a mini Angkor Wat. Out of approx 60 buildings, ~20 survived the US bombing raids as the ruins (slightly less ruinous at the time) were being used by the Vietcong as a strong hold. There is visible machine gun fire in the walls and enormous bomb craters. One of the sites was practically leveled from bombs. One crater was about 8 feet deep and about 12ft wide.
We’re going to miss Hoi An as it’s got a really cool vibe which you can easily sink into, the longer you stay here, but we’re both very excited about getting to Hanoi. We’ll have to back-track when we get a chance to visit Hue as I’m a bit bummed that we’re not seeing it.
See you in Hanoi!
