Rose and Sam's Excellent Adventure

I sound my barbaric LOL over the rooftops of the world.

Teaching, and its side effects.

Women: Even though I don’t have a cold, to fully understand my predicament, visit this link immediately.
I’ve been flat out all week with some stupid virus I picked up somewhere along the way, I suspect at school. Started with feeling fairly shite, then my fever went up, and stayed up and all my bones hurt and all that jazz. I went to the overpriced doctors and I had an influenza test, to put my bosses mind at ease. (Every Vietnamese person considers swine flu to be the next, incurable bubonic plague).

To anyone who hasn’t experienced the joys of a nasal swab, let me explain it a little. The cute Vietnamese nurse looked at me, with a slightly worried look and said, while handing me a tissue “This may be a little inconvenient for you, is it ok if I take a sample from your nose?”. I smirked, thinking she was just gunna wiggle that thing around the opening of my nose to try to get a bit of booger or something, no big deal. “Surree!” I say.

Little did I know that she was going to ram no less than 4 inches of cotton bud up my nose! You know, when you stick your finger in your nose, I mean, really stick it up there as far as she’ll go? Well, I discovered that day that there’s another 2 or 3 inches behind that before you hit anything to stop you. The cotton-tip just kept going! When it hit the back of my sinus, it felt like she was tickling my brain. One of the most bizarre sensations ever. Highly recommended.

Anyway, I’m slowly on the mend. My temp drops down to about 37.4 sometimes, but usually hovers around 38. Woke up the first morning with it with a pretty good fever and puking. So all in all, been a fairly shite week! Coughing my ass up too, so I think I might need some antibiotics for my chest cos I’m coughing up little leprechauns. I’m supposed to be going back to work tomorrow, so I’ll see how I go.

Rose is covering my shifts at the moment, which is kinda wearing her out cos she’s not sleeping much cos of my constant coughing. So major kudos to her!

Anyway, enough belly aching from me. Here’s some video of my classroom. Some of my favourite crazy kids are in these two vids I took during break.

Adios, we’ll post more when we’re healthy. Seems like all we’ve done the last 2 weeks is be sick and work lol. Rose just got over her flu, and now I got this stupid thing. *whine*

Haven’t done the nasal swab, but I have had a back-of-throat swab done, for my tonsils… another feeling of, ‘This shouldn’t be done to humans. Ever.’

    I feel your pain.

Wait until they test you for VRE. They take the swab from where the sun dont shine! It’s a big favourite with nurses dealing with difficult patients! haha

Get better soon Slam de la Gutz.
